An earthquake measuring 7.0 on the Rictor Scale hit Haiti on Tuesday, January 12 and created the worst catastrophe the nation has ever experienced. Some medical team leaders say it is the most devastating catastrophe they have ever seen.
Reports estimate 50,000 - 80,000 people have died in the wake of this historical earthquake. People screaming out for help from underneath the rubble has caused rescue teams to keep a steady pace in their efforts to lift the rubble off these victims.
Many volunteer helpers from around the world have flown to be a part of various medical and survival teams. Some individuals have already reported to have worked day and night, and just living off power bars and grabbing a nap when they can.
Project Mercy appeals to U.S. Citizens..."play a supporting role in sending provisions to Haiti."
Many family members remain in a frantic search to find their children, fathers, mothers, brothers, and sisters. To some it is sad news, to others...they are finding their loved ones, but in damaged condition. Doctor and nurses are treating long lines of injured people in makeshift hospitals, made from tents.
Some relatives are reporting receiving text messages from family members buried beneath the rubble... others are not so fortunate. All they possessed was taken from them in a matter of moments. Help Project Mercy as we play a role in the beginning of restoration for these Haitians.
Project Mercy is providing funds for the much needed supplies of water, food, clothing. We offer you the opportunity to help us help these people in Haiti. As these hurting people would acknowledge, nothing is to small of a contribution.
